캡틴은 계속 말을 이었다. 그는 수다쟁이였다. 물론 나는 이미 알고 있었지만, 마치 그곳에 있는 모든 사람과 대화하는 것 같은 느낌에 한참이 걸렸다. 나는 한쪽에 서서 그가 순찰을 마칠 때까지 기다렸다. 밤새도록, 그리고 어둑한 새벽녘까지 그는 무기를 든 자들에게 조용히 명령을 내렸다. 전에 프리 길드에서 여성 전사들을 본 적은 있지만, 그곳에 있던 여성들은 전사도 아니었고 무장도 하지 않았다. 남성에게 그렇게 의존하는 것이 부자연스럽게 느껴졌다. 오히려 젊은이든 나이 든 여성이든, 그들은 캡팈에게 손을 댈 핑계를 끊임없이 찾았다.

왜 여자가 남자따위에게 '의존'함? 이상해...
